MAIDAO GLASS · PROCUREMENT GUIDE

Existing bottle or custom mould: four decisions before tooling.

Your brand may need a distinctive finish before it needs a new glass shape. The useful starting point is the requirement an existing design cannot meet: silhouette, dimensions, closure or a specific packaging function.

Your bottle decision goes beyond the mould fee.

Your bottle project carries development, approval and inventory commitments as well as tooling. A clear comparison keeps the shape decision connected to the quantity you can use.

Existing designs do not imply immediate inventory. Decoration and closures may carry separate minimums. Final terms belong to the selected package.

02

Four decisions before your custom bottle mould.

Is the shape essential?

A distinctive silhouette can justify new tooling when it is central to your product. A different colour or label can often begin with an existing shape.

Can the existing dimensions work?

Capacity, height and finish matter alongside appearance. A change to the drawing may require tooling; the selected design needs a technical review.

Can your volume support the run?

Custom glass has grade-specific minimums. Your expected demand and storage plan deserve the same attention as the mould price.

Can the approval stages fit your plan?

A new shape introduces drawing, prototype and glass-sample decisions before production. A launch date does not remove those technical questions.

03

An existing bottle can become your first release.

Your first branded package can use decoration on an existing design while you learn which features matter to customers. A later custom shape remains a separate development decision, with its own samples and production terms.

This approach does not guarantee immediate stock or a lower minimum for every item. The selected design, closure and decoration batch still determine the quotation.

04

The comparison needs your own numbers.

Your reference bottle, intended quantity, closure and non-negotiable dimensions make the choice concrete. MAIDAO can review an existing-design route and a custom brief against those requirements.

YOUR PURCHASING QUESTIONS

Before you take the next step.

Can I customise a bottle without a new mould?

Yes. Decoration and a matching closure can change the presentation of an existing glass design. A new shape or revised dimensions require their own technical assessment.

What should I compare before choosing a custom mould?

Your shape requirements, expected volume, closure and development schedule form the comparison. The tooling cost is only one part of the commitment.
